JLR Supplier Excellence Awards

JLR Supplier Excellence AwardsJaguar Land Rover held its first Supplier Excellence Awards earlier this month at a ceremony in the West Midlands.

The 10 trophies were handed to companies from Corby to Cairo by Joanna Lumley. Ian Harnett, JLR director of human resources and purchasing, said the awards had been established to “recognise the role supply-chain firms play in helping the company achieve its goals”.

Of the 10 trophies, two were designated gold, four silver and four bronze. The awards went to individual plants or facilities, rewarding them for their on-time delivery, continuous quality, accreditation to international and JLR standards and flexibility.

In the West Midlands, Solihull-based ZF Lemforder (pictured), which supplies axle sub-assemblies for the Land Rover Discovery, Range Rover and Ranger Rover Sport models, was given a silver award, while Telford-based Denso Manufacturing, which supplies heating, ventilation and air-conditioning units for Range Rovers and Range Rover Sports — as well as the latest range of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles — won bronze.

Mr Harnett said: “JLR is gearing up for the future, and we need our suppliers to do the same, enabling us to deliver class-leading vehicles to our customer base across the globe. The 10 facilities recognised through our first annual Excellence Awards are the leading examples of how our strong supply base is stepping up to the mark.”

The other winners were: Continental Automotive Systems Slovakia; Brembo Poland; Maxion Wheels Italia; Leoni Wiring Systems Egypt; Autoliv BKI of Spain; Trelleborg Forsheda AB of Sweden; Robert Bosch GmbH of Germany; and Benteler Automotive UK Ltd of Corby, which supplies steel sub-frames, control arms and selected chassis components.
