The 4G Mill range of solid-carbide milling cutters from Cleckheaton-based Cutwel Ltd (
www.cutwel.co.uk) has been designed for cutting a variety of materials; these include pre-hardened steels up to HRC55, medium- and low-hardness steels, cast irons and carbon steels.
Made by the Korean company YG-1 Co Ltd, the cutters feature an ultra-fine carbide substrate and a specially formulated coating that provides enhanced resistance to heat and corrosion, extends tool life and ensures an excellent surface finish at high cutting speeds.
The cutters are available with two, four or six flutes (there are also ball-nosed versions) and have diameters ranging from 0.03mm to 25mm, as well as inch equivalents. They are also available in various length
configurations; these include long-reach and long-shank versions, as well as extended-neck versions for rib machining.
Furthermore, the four-flute cutters feature a multiple helix that reduces vibrations at higher speeds and ensures optimum results during heavy-cutting operations and close-tolerance applications.
