Universal solution for gear manufactureDesigned to offer a universal solution for gear manufacture, the K 300 hobbing machine from Emag subsidiary Koepfer (www.emag.com) can produce a wide range of components from module 1 pinion shafts to module 4 helical gears. It has been designed to ensure the highest possible component quality.

The machine base is made of a polymer concrete, and the headstock and tailstock are connected by a yoke to ensure high levels of rigidity and precision during gear cutting.

Moreover, the machine can undertake a variety of gear-cutting techniques, including: wet and dry hobbing, the skiving and hard milling of cylindrical gears, and the plunge and tangential hobbing of worm gears.

The machine can also cut straight bevel gears using either form-milling cutters in a multi-step process or Conikron hobs; even out-of-round gears can be machined. Tasks such as deburring, brushing and ensuring that gears are correctly aligned with other features are undertaken by auxiliary axes.

The hobbing head is inclined at 45deg for optimal chip flow and ease of access for machine setting, and water-cooled drives on all process-relevant axes allow fast machining while ensuring high levels of quality.

The K 300 is fitted as standard with a loading device that can handle parts weighing up to 10kg; this can work in conjunction with a variety of raw-material and finished-component storage devices.

Fully automated robot cells with pallet systems can also be supplied.
