France-based Alstom has won an order from Germany’s Länderbahn for 12 Coradia Lint 41 regional trains. They should enter service by mid-2016 in Germany — mainly on the Oberpfalzbahn network — and in the Czech Republic.
The Coradia Lint 41 is an environment-friendly low-consumption Diesel Multiple Unit with a maximum operating speed of 140kph.
The two-unit trains ordered by Länderbahn have a total of 125 seats. They will be built at Alstom’s Salzgitter plant in Germany.
Didier Pfleger, vice-president of Alstom Transport for Germany and Austria, said: “Alstom is confident in the success of this project, which has an ambitious schedule to manufacture, test and commission the trains in just over one year.
“With over 780 Coradia Lints sold to 18 operators in Germany, Netherlands, Denmark and Canada, Alstom benefits from extensive feedback on customers’ experience with a train that proves its value every day.”
