Best-ever May performance for BMWBMW has reported its best-ever May performance, with strong sales in all markets. Registrations of BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce vehicles increased by 5.9% to 188,287. It also achieved a year-to-date sales record, with 890,937 vehicles delivered in the first five months of the year — an increase of 7.7% compared with 2014.

Sales of BMW’s own-brand vehicles rose by 4% in May to 159,129, while sales for the year-to-date increased by 5.2% to 759,609. The BMW 2 Series saw sales of 11,400, of which 6,898 were the Active Tourer variant. Meanwhile, a total of 13,392 BMW 4 Series vehicles were delivered to customers. BMW-i sales totalled 2,169 in May, with the brand achieving sales of 10,490 vehicles in the first five months of the year.

In May, 28,831 Minis were sold, an increase of 18.3% on the same month last year, while year-to-date sales increased by 25.9%, with a total of 129,910 delivered to customers. The new three-door Mini saw sales increase by 16.3% to 10,321, while the new five-door Mini was delivered to 8,535 customers. Sales of the Convertible model rose by 9% to 1,663.

Deliveries of BMW and Mini models to Asia saw a year-to-date increase of 4.5% to 276,055 vehicles, while a total of 195,485 vehicles have been delivered to customers in the Americas so far this year, an increase of 9.7%. In the USA, sales in the first five months of 2015 rose by 10.0%, with a total of 160,533 vehicles delivered to customers. Mexico saw a year-to-date sales increase of 18.9% , with sales totalling 6,682.

A total of 392,182 models were delivered to Europe in the first five months of the year, an increase of 9.2%. The UK is “a significant growth driver”, with sales up 12.4% so far this year (to 85,150). France also recorded “very strong” growth, with year-to-date sales up 24.4% (to 31,179).

Ian Robertson, head of sales and marketing at BMW, said: “Our innovative new products are achieving pleasing sales around the world, and I am delighted that we have sold over 10,000 BMW vehicles in the first five months of this year.”
