Bombardier Transportation has won a contract worth 431 million euros from Vienna’s transport authority (Wiener Linien) for 119 Flexity trams. The contract also includes a 24-year FlexCare maintenance agreement, options for 37 more trams and maintenance services.
The FlexCare programme allows operators to maintain vehicles at their own depots but under the overall responsibility of Bombardier. All the vehicles will be manufactured at Bombardier's facility in Vienna. Wiener Linien CEO Günter Steinbauer said: “We wanted a vehicle that is modern, comfortable and environment-friendly — and fits the existing infrastructure while offering good value for money.”
