Germany’s Thyssen Krupp Carbon Components and the US company Maxion Wheels have signed a cooperation deal to produce ultra-lightweight aluminium and carbon-fibre hybrid wheels.
This is predicted to result in cost savings of up to 40% when compared with standard aluminium wheels.
Thyssen Krupp head Jens Werner said: “With carbon-fibre-aluminium hybrid wheels, we can offer a unique option to our customers in the luxury and sports-car segment to differentiate themselves through technology and design.
"The cooperation agreement with Maxion Wheels marks an important milestone in the development of our carbon-fibre wheel technology.”
