New AM company focuses on aerospaceUS-based Addaero Manufacturing (www.addaero-mfg.com) is to form a new company that it hopes will become the leading supplier of 3-D additive parts for the aerospace industry.

Two of the principals involved in starting the firm — Rich Merlino and Dave Hill — have extensive experience in the aerospace sector, having worked with Pratt & Whitney in various engineering, operations and supply-side roles.

Company president Mr Merlino said: “The aerospace industry is increasingly looking to use additive parts in R&D projects and eventually in production. Very few additive-manufacturing companies have the deep level of understanding about what is involved in aerospace matched with additive-manufacturing expertise. With Addaero,
you get both.”

Mr Hill, who is vice-president (operations), added: “By always exploring many different additive-manufacturing methods, we’re continually investigating new ways to select the right technology for the application.

“Being flexible and knowing the aerospace sector gives us the opportunity to align the technology and manufacturing solutions that are right for each and every application.”
