A Warwickshire press tool design and manufacturing business that began trading in January is thriving, thanks to two Quaser vertical machining centres supplied by a near-neighbour.
Southam-based 2G Tooling Ltd, which specialises in automotive ‘body in white’ tooling, purchased the MV234P (with a machining envelope of 2,040 x 762 x 661mm) and the smaller MV184E from Engineering Technology Group (

Partner Chris Peters says: “We have a lot of experience in this sector; from the outset, we were determined not to fall short in terms of machining capacity.
“As a start-up company, we were apprehensive about investing in machines with such impressive specifications, but we were approached by a number of potential customers almost before we were in business.
“We acquired newly built premises to accommodate these two machines, and we haven’t looked back. The Quasers are extremely well built, and they have many features that cost extra on other machines.”
“We mostly machine tool steels such as Uddeholm Holdax and SV21, plus some parts specified in aluminium. We also do a fair amount of prototyping, and we offer a full CAD to machining service.
“These days, pre-build tools have to produce parts to similar standards as final production parts, so we value the accuracy and repeatability that the Quaser VMCs offer us.”
