The CHF840 and CHF1300 are the latest machines from Nottingham-based Vollmer UK Ltd (
www.vollmer-group.com/en-uk) for grinding the tooth sides of carbide-tipped circular saw blades.
Both machines feature ‘oscillation grinding’ for maximum material removal in a single cycle, while five-axis movement ensures short grinding times and minimised non-productive times.
The CHF840 can grind blades from 80 to 840mm in diameter, while the larger CHF1300 accommodates blades from 80 to 1,300mm in diameter.
Both machines automatically detect and adjust to the required angles — including hook angle — and tooth pitch.
Moreover, they can grind convex tooth flanks; and it is possible to change blades without adjusting the mounting carriage, so there is no need to set a blade up a second time.
The machines also incorporate a multi-function hand-wheel that is designed to make operation both fast and simple.
This can also be used as a potentiometer for making ‘speed adjustments in automatic mode’. Control is provided by a Windows-based CNC system with a 10in LCD colour display and a capacity for storing up to 4,000 programs.
