Advanced Insulation (www.aisplc.com) bought Plymouth-based Manuplas (www.manuplas.co.uk) in April 2014 with £850,000 of funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial.

In response to increased demand for its products, which include buoys and a modular bow-fender system for offshore wind-farm service vessels, Manuplas has now opened a new 50,000ft2 unit on Estover Road.

General manager Stephen Ward said: “The growth of the renewables industry — particularly offshore wind farms — has driven us to spend many years researching and developing new designs for fenders.

“With these new solutions already proving popular, and demand for our existing portfolio strong, extra space and additional manufacturing facilities will help to ‘future-proof’ the company.”
