Luxury car maker Aston Martin (
www.astonmartin.com) is to auction a DB10 — the first car created for the James Bond movie franchise — in a bid to raise more than £1 million for the charity Médecins Sans Frontières.
The vehicle will go ‘under the gavel’ at Christie’s in London on 18 February as one of 24 special lots to celebrate the release of the 24th Bond film Spectre.
Production of the bespoke DB10 sports car was limited to 10, built at Aston Martin’s Gaydon headquarters. Most of them were modified for use in the filming of Spectre, but the DB10 to be offered at Christie’s is one of two that were left unmodified and used for display purposes.
It is the only DB10 to date to be made available for private ownership, and it has been signed by the latest incarnation of Bond, Warwickshire-based actor Daniel Craig.
The DB10 features a 4.7-litre V8 petrol engine and a six-speed manual gearbox. With an estimated top speed of around 190mph, the car features a carbon-fibre exterior, while the interior has been hand-made using luxury leathers, carbon fibre and aluminium.
