Mills celebrates first-quarter results

Mills CNC Ltd (www.millscnc.co.uk), the exclusive distributor of Doosan machine tools in the UK and Ireland, is celebrating its results for the first quarter — the best in its 39-year history. The company achieved machine tool sales of over £12.7 million in the first three months of the year and is on track to beat its 2012 sales targets. Managing director Nick Frampton said: “It’s been an exceptional first quarter. We took orders for over 130 machines.”

A breakdown of the first-quarter results by machine tool and technology type reveals that Doosan’s new-frame Puma lathes were responsible for a quarter of all orders taken. A similar number of compact two- and three-axis Lynx lathes were also sold.

Mr Frampton added: “The results clearly demonstrate the continuing high demand for Doosan machine tools. They also indicate that our decision to hold ‘high’ levels of stock from Doosan is strategically sound, because it means
that our customers can be sure of a fast delivery.”
