Italian manufacturer Comau (www.comau.com) has won the Product of the Year award in the Industrial Robots category at the 4.0 Industry Conference in Warsaw for its new Racer3 model.

Built entirely of aluminium and magnesium, the Racer3 weighs just 30kg; it has a maximum reach of 630mm and a payload of 3kg.

Thanks to its compact size and high velocity, the robot is suitable for applications that require maximum precision and velocity in small work-spaces — such as assembly, materials handling, machine tending, dispensing and pick-and-place work.

The award process had two voting phases. In the first phase, registered products were screened by a jury whose members represented universities, technical institutes, media and industry professionals.

The product selection was then made available to readers of the Control Engineering Poland magazine, who voted Racer3 as the winner.
