MecWash Systems Ltd — the aqueous parts-washing specialist (
www.mecwash.co.uk) — has supplied one of its Midi machines and a chiller unit to Ryobi Aluminium Castings UK in Carrickfergus, County Antrim, to ensure that the latter’s engine blocks arrive at pressure testing very clean — and at ambient temperature.
Two blocks are cleaned simultaneously by the Midi before being moved along the conveyor towards the chiller unit and driven through it.
This specially designed unit monitors the temperature of the blocks and only releases them when they are at ambient temperature. The blocks are then moved to the pressure tester, and the fixture they were on is returned to the start of the cleaning line (via the powered return conveyor and scissor lifts).
Barry Reynolds, senior project engineer at Ryobi, said: “We are delighted with the performance of the MecWash Midi to date and its ability to increase productivity while improving standards of cleanliness. We have other MecWash machines at Ryobi, so we were confident that they could deliver to our strict production schedules.”
