Honing specialist Delapena Honing Equipment Ltd, Cheltenham (www.delapena.co.uk), has launched a sub-contract operation that will offer its specialist precision-finishing expertise (on a wide range of materials) to the European market.

Using its latest electronically controlled precision honing machines, the company can achieve tolerances of just 1µm on volumes of 20-50,000 parts a year; and while Delapena specialises in bore diameters up to 25mm, it can accommodate bores up to 500mm.

The company says the service can be used as a permanent production solution or as an interim one while a customer’s machine is being built.
