HTEC programme continuesHaas Automation Europe’s HTEC programme continues, and the first Grand Opening of 2012 was at the Yrkes-akademin educational institute (known as YA!) in Vaasa, Finland. Equipped with four of the latest Haas (www.HaasCNC.com) CNC machine tools — a GT-20 two-axis lathe, an SL-10 turning centre and two tool-room mills — the new HTEC was set up with help from the local Haas Factory Outlet, Oy Grönblom AB.

YA! principal Mika Jylha said: “We can now offer our students a modern, exciting, stimulating and inspiring environment for learning CNC manufacturing in collaboration with industry leaders. Our partnership with Haas gives our teachers the necessary tools to help young people find better opportunities and rewarding long-term careers.”

One of the students benefitting from the new HTEC is Jonas Söderholm, who is in his final year of ‘CNC manufacturing’ education. He says: “Haas machine tools are simple and easy to operate. I’ve used them in my education, and I’ve seen them in industry, and their user-friendly qualities help save time and money in both environments. Until I came here, my school career hadn’t always gone smoothly, but learning to make parts on the Haas machines has been a very positive experience.”
