Baldock-based Floyd Automatic Tooling Ltd (
www.floydautomatic.co.uk) has extended its tooling offering with the arrival of the W&F Micro range of interchangeable tools.
The German-manufactured tooling system uses face and taper contact technology to guarantee a repeatability of 0.002mm. The tool-holder of the W&F Micro range remains in the machine, while the head is removed with a single screw.
As a result, the operator can change inserts outside the machine, making it suitable for tool pre-setting systems.
The tooling is available with a variety of head types that can be specified for general turning, facing, profiling and parting off, as well as internal profiling and boring operations.
Furthermore, the head designs are available in left- and right-hand formats, with through-tool coolant available on request.
According to W&F, the heads are suitable for all types of turning application, including on Swiss-type machines, multi-spindle automatics or general turning centres. Tool-holders are available with 8 x 8, 12 x 12 or 16 x 16mm square shanks, plus an overall length of 80mm.
