Saudi orders for Coote Engineering

A privately owned company in County Tyrone has won orders of almost £1 million in Saudi Arabia. Coote Engineering, based near Dungannon, has been designing and manufacturing moulds and machinery for the pre-cast concrete industry since 1977. The company, which employs 28 people, said the orders are its first ever from Saudi Arabia.

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster visited the firm to congratulate it on securing the orders. She said: “Like many businesses, Coote was hit by the economic downturn, but the company has worked hard to identify new opportunities and broaden its customer base.

“Coote Engineering is an example of how businesses, by pro-actively seeking out new markets, can respond positively to the current economic challenges. Northern Ireland’s Boosting Business campaign has been put in place to help companies to do that by supporting product and skills development, exporting activity and job creation.”

Coote Engineering is already exporting its range of machinery to Scandinavia and other countries in the EU, as well as Turkey and the the USA. Managing director Ronnie Coote said: “We are delighted with these orders from Saudi Arabia, which will hopefully open the door to more business in what is a dynamic and expanding market-place.”
