Bombardier, which has a major manufacturing operation in Derby, has hailed the “very good progress” it has made on its turn-round plan, despite revenues declining in the second quarter of its financial year.
The Montreal-based group reported revenues of 4.3 billion Canadian dollars for the three months to 30 June, down from 4.62 billion a year earlier.
President and chief executive Alain Bellemare said: “We continue to make very good progress executing our turn-round plan. We delivered on our financial commitments and positioned Bombardier to meet both our full-year target and our 2020 goals.”
In February, Bombardier announced plans to cut 270 jobs across its rail transport operations in the UK, which include sites in Derby, Ilford and Crewe. This is part of a drive to shed 7,000 jobs in the next two years (
