Alstom wins Peru rail contractAlstom (www.alstom.com) has secured a contract worth around 200 million euros from Graña y Montero Ferrovias to supply 139 Metropolis carriages for Line 1 of the Lima Metro system in Peru; delivery is scheduled to be completed by 2019. Line 1 is 34km long and has 26 stations.

Alstom vice-president Michel Boccaccio said: “We would like to thank Graña y Montero Ferrovias for another vote of confidence. With this new order, more passengers will be able to commute aboard a metro solution that is reliable, comfortable and environment-friendly. Well established in the Latin American region, we are committed to making this project a success.”

The Metropolis carriages will be manufactured in Spain — at Alstom’s factory in Santa Perpetua de la Mogoda, near Barcelona.

Meanwhile, the first phase of the Chengdu Metro line 3 in China, served by 144 carriages equipped with Alstom’s traction systems, began operating on 31 July. Phase one (of three) is over 20km long and includes 17 stations.

Alstom has been awarded contracts to supply traction systems for 432 carriages to operate on the new line. The company has supplied traction systems for 18 metro lines in eight cities in China.
