WMG signs Austrian collaboration dealThe engineering organisation WMG, based at the University of Warwick, has signed a collaboration agreement with Upper Austrian Research; they will work together on projects relating to intelligent vehicles, lightweight materials, metrology and energy storage.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed at the University of Warwick by WMG founder and chairman Kumar Bhattacharyya, Upper Austrian Research CEO Wilfried Enzenhofer and Thomas Stelzer, the Deputy State Governor of Upper Austria.

Mr Enzenhofer said: “With the signing of the MoU, we are very confident that we have created the basis for an efficient co-operation and know-how transfer between our research organisations in the future. We appreciate having had this unique opportunity to visit WMG and to get an insight into its impressive research activities.”

Meanwhile, WMG has received a Royal Warrant; it was presented by Chris Skidmore, the Minister for the Constitution, who said: “The UK has some of the best universities in the world, and I feel very privileged to be able to recognise the WMG with such a prestigious award.

The manufacturing research at the University of Warwick is an exemplar; it means that our country can remain innovative and agile in the global market for generations to come.”

Professor Bhattacharyya said: “WMG was founded in 1980 to invigorate UK manufacturing. This wonderful honour is recognition to every member of staff over the last 35 years who has contributed to our success.”
