Coventry-based automotive supplier Brose UK (
www.brose.com/coventry) has reported record growth.
The company, which produces window regulators and seat structures for a number of global car makers, has enjoyed “a major surge” in sales, with its turnover rising by £43 million (to £195 million) over the last 12 months.
The firm has seen its workforce increase by 250 people (to 900) to cope with demand, and its apprentice and graduate programmes are also growing.
Managing director Juergen Zahl said: “When you look at how much new work we have secured, I think it’s fair to say we’ve taken a far greater proportion of the domestic growth than we first envisaged. In the last year alone, we have seen sales increase by 25% to a level that is now the highest in our 30-year history in Coventry.
“We produce for Nissan in Sunderland and Toyota in Burnaston. In certain instances, we also supply Tier One firms like Lear and Johnson Controls. Jaguar Land Rover has been a key driver in our expansion, and I’m delighted that we will shortly be starting production on a number of new model variants for the Midlands-based car maker.”
Germany’s Brose is the world’s fifth-largest family-owned automotive supplier, with more than 24,000 people at 60 locations in 23 countries. Group turnover is over 6 billion euros, and 50% of the new vehicles being produced around the world are equipped with at least one Brose product.
Mr Zahl concluded: “The group is firmly committed to Coventry and to ensuring that we have the resources, technology and capability to continue to grow in line with the UK automotive sector.
“We will be announcing some exciting investment plans shortly that follow on from the £30 million-plus factory extension we completed at the start of this year.”
