PSL Datatrack software plays a key role

PSL Datatrack software plays a key roleLeicester-based RDL Technologies has been supplying parts to customers in a wide range of industries since 2000, with its success based on a policy of continual improvement while providing a consistent level of service.

Over the last three years, it has achieved ISO quality management accreditation, invested in new machine tools and successfully integrated another company into its business model — and PSL Datatrack production control software (www.psldatatrack.com) has played a key role in all these initiatives.

Before starting on the path towards ISO 9001:2008 accreditation, RDL made a concerted effort to find the best software, and demonstrations from a number of companies convinced it that PSL Datatrack was the most suitable.

Production control manager Lewis Lockwood says: “We liked the way it could be tailored to our specific needs from the beginning and gave us the option to expand into different modules when we wished. The way the system flows, along with the control and traceability we now have over our work, is second to none.” (www.dltechnologies.co.uk)

The company achieved ISO accreditation within six weeks of the system being installed. “The auditor made a special note regarding the PSL Datatrack system; he was very impressed with how easy it was to keep track of a job, from the initial inquiry through to invoicing.”

RDL acquired Acorn Precision Machining in 2015, bringing five more sliding-head machines into the business, and the integration of the two companies went very smoothly — helped by the fact that Acorn was already using PSL Datatrack software.

“We liaised closely with PSL Datatrack managing director Geoff Gartland and explained that we wanted Acorn’s software to be integrated into ours. This presented no problem; it has benefitted not only us but — more importantly — our customers.”
