The two-millionth Skoda vehicle to be made at the manufacturer’s Kvasiny plant in the Czech Republic has rolled off the production line.
Michael Oeljeklaus, Skoda board member for production and logistics, said: “Kvasiny is a ‘state of the art’ production facility with a great tradition and an outstanding team. The site’s annual production volume will continue to increase over the coming years to 280,000. To this end, we will be investing heavily, expanding Kvasiny into a Competence Centre for the production of SUV vehicles — among other things.
“We have recently reached an important milestone in this regard by launching production of the Skoda Kodiaq.”
The Kvasiny plant has been in operation for around 80 years; its first Skoda model was the Superb in 1947.
It is one of the biggest employers in the Hradec Králové region of the country, and the company says that it will be taking on more employees this year.
