Subsea 7 — a provider of sea-bed-to-surface engineering, construction and other services for the oil and gas industry — has taken delivery of two new-build vessels, completing an investment programme that has added six vessels to its fleet since 2014.
Seven Arctic (pictured) is a flex-lay vessel designed to meet the demands of deep-water and harsh environments, featuring a 1,000-tonne offshore crane. Seven Kestrel is a dive support vessel, with an 18-man twin-bell saturation diving system.
These vessels were designed by Subsea 7 engineers in collaboration with Hyundai Heavy Industries Shipyard (South Korea) and Wärtsilä Ship Design (Norway).
COO John Evans said: “We have one of the most modern, capable and diverse fleets in our market segment to differentiates our industry-leading service.
Seven Arctic delivers an important ‘step change’ in our sub-sea construction capability, particularly in ultra-deep-water fields that pose increasingly technical challenges, while Seven Kestrel reinforces our leading diving capabilities.”
The company said that both vessels will carry out crew familiarisation in the North Sea before starting operations in the spring.
