Erith-based RK International Machine Tools Ltd (www.rk-int.com) has added the Italian-built range of REA steam cleaners to its portfolio of products.

This comes after using the equipment to successfully steam-clean its pre-owned machine tool stock over the past 15 years.

The REA machines includes fixed steam generators and portable saturated-steam cleaners for use in a range of applications.

These include the disinfecting, sanitising and sterilising of equipment— and degreasing in the case of machine tools. Steam provides an environment-friendly method of cleaning, as it eliminates the need for chemical-based detergents.

According to REA, virtually any surface can be cleaned. The fixed Giove range of steam generators is suitable for large industrial installations, as it provides steam for between two and 12 users of both manual and automated cleaning systems; the Saturno range is portable and can be located anywhere in the factory where there is access to a water supply.

That said, its high-capacity water tank allows it to be operated for 5hr before needing a refill.

RK says that the Saturno’s portability does not detract from its performance, with units offering 12 bar of pressure and steam volumes from 15 to 60kg/hr. REA steam cleaners can also provide a suction capability for removing liquids from a work area.
