Jeremy Hadall, a leading robotics expert, is offering ‘technology-shy’ businesses the chance to discover the benefits of robots through a two-day course at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) in Coventry, where he is chief technologist for robotics and automation.
The course —
Improving Competitiveness Through Automation — is targeted at helping key ‘decision makers’ to understand the benefits of automation and robotics.
In an article he co-authored for the Institution of Engineering and Technology —
Robotics: manufacturing the future — Mr Hadall says: “Britain still lags behind its major economic rivals in the uptake of robots. Statistics from the International Federation of Robotics reveal that the UK has only 33 robots per 10,000 employees, compared to 213 for Japan, 170 for Germany and 154 for Sweden.
“So how do we encourage UK industry to invest in robotics and automation to reap the benefits available? Perhaps the first step is as simple as demonstrating that these benefits are truly benefits.”
The course, on 8-9 March and limited to just 20 delegates, is being supported by ROBOTT-NET, a collaboration between the Danish Technological Institute, Germany’s Fraunhofer IPA and Spain’s Tecnalia.
The course costs £600 (plus VAT). More information can be found at the events section of the Web site (
