Leamington Spa-based Mills CNC Ltd (www.millscnc.co.uk) — the exclusive distributor of Doosan machines in the UK and Ireland — says that while its DBC range of horizontal boring machines has been popular with manufacturers of large components, a ‘new’ range of large-capacity Doosan machines is now occupying centre stage — the BM range of double-column machining centres, comprising the BM1530M, BM2035M and BM2740M.

These have dual-contact (ISO/BT50) 25/30kW 12,000rev/min spindles, roller guideways and linear scales on all axes; they also feature a cooling system for the ballscrew nut and bearings, along with thermal-sensor technology that reduces the effects of thermal displacement.

The machines are equipped with large work tables (up to 4,000mm ¥ 2,500mm) and can accommodate loads up to 15,000kg. Control is by the latest Fanuc 31i-B control with the Doosan Easy Operation Package for quick job set-up and simplified operation.
