Alcester-based Seco Tools (UK) Ltd (
www.secotools.com) has broadened its range of thread-chaser holders to accommodate Steadyline vibration-damping bars and Capto tooling.
By using special carbide-pin locating systems, patented pocket-seat surface patterns and high-pressure coolant delivery, Seco says that these holders deliver precise and consistent insert positioning, high rigidity and effective chip evacuation.
Adapted for tooling with Capto C6, Capto C8 or Steadyline GL50 connections, the holders can accommodate a range of multi-tooth chasers or single-tooth inserts for external and internal threading operations.
Previously available in a square-shank design, Seco’s thread-chaser holders can produce API and commonly licensed thread profiles across the full OCTG (Oil Country Tubular Goods) product range.
Further features of the holders include chip-breaker geometries and through-the-insert coolant. Maximum pressures reach 70 bar on the Steadyline and Capto versions of the thread-chaser holders, and 200 bar on the square-shank holders.
Seco’s thread-chaser holders rely on top and axial clamping forces to maintain tight insert grip during the threading process. The company says that the combination of holders and inserts can reduce the number of passes required to consistently produce precise thread profiles.
