Ajax Machine Tools International Ltd (
www.ajax-mach.co.uk) has added to its portfolio of milling machines with the launch of the AJCBM1000 bed mill. Designed to fill the gap between machining centres and tool-room mills, the four-tonne AJCBM1000 features a heavy-duty bed casting. Moreover, the machine has been designed to mill, drill, bore and tap without the confines of an enclosed work envelope found on machining centres — and it can interpolate all three axes simultaneously for 3-D milling applications.
UK sales manager Ian Fenton says: “All of our machines, which are calibrated using Renishaw laser equipment, demonstrate levels of precision better than the ±10µm range that appears in some of our literature. In reality, the AJCBM1000 machines are closer to a 2-3µm calibration level.”
The AJCBM1000, which has a work envelope of 1,000 x 500 x 500mm and accommodates workpieces weighing up to 800kg, features an ISO40 spindle powered by a 7.5hp motor that provides a high level of torque throughout the 50-4,000rev/min speed range.
As with all machine tools from the Ajax stable, the AJCBM1000 is assembled at the company’s Lymington headquarters, where a team of engineers provides a bespoke assembly service. This allows customers to choose from options that include a Heidenhain, Fanuc, Siemens or Fagor CNC.
Ajax AJCBM bed mills are available in eight different models, ranging from 720 to 3,000mm in the X axis.
