Anca invests to enhance its machine shop

Anca invests to enhance its machine shop ANCA (www.anca.com) has made a significant investment in its machine shop in Melbourne, Australia, to boost its internal-grinding and precision-measuring capabilities.

Manufacturing-operations manager Mark Patman said: “In the Melbourne factory, we have a large modern machine shop and a dedicated precision-grinding cell that feeds directly into the assembly of our products.

Both pieces of new equipment will integrate into our already established internal component-manufacturing function, supporting greater flexibility and reducing lead times.”

A Danobat-Overbeck ID-400 L internal grinder provides additional capacity for the manufacture of precision rotary components, while a Taylor Hobson Talyrond 585H automated roundness/cylindricity measuring machine will confirm the quality of ground products.

The Danobat-Overbeck (www.danobatoverbeck.de/en) machine was selected because it offered the longest bed, highest axis speed, most powerful spindles and largest working envelope — plus it has a one-piece natural granite base.

The Talyrond 585H was chosen for its software and measurement analysis capability.

“Our customers want to achieve ever tighter tolerances, which in turn flows down to the accuracy of the components we produce and the capability of the machines we use.

“We have been responding to customer requirements by investing in new equipment and working with the partners that can support us in producing higher-accuracy parts.”
