Axis speeds up to 54m/min, a high-torque (600Nm) spindle drive and a compact, highly rigid structure are key features of the Mitsui Seiki HPX63 ll horizontal machining centre.
Offering a 630mm pallet capacity, this machine is being launched into the UK market by sole agent Hinckley-based 2D CNC Machinery Ltd (
www.2dcnc.co.uk).
Both positioning and repeatability in the X, Y and Z axes are within ±0.001mm, achieved through the use of linear scales as standard. According to 2D CNC, the Mitsui Seiki HPX63 ll is capable of processing materials ranging from aluminium to tough alloy steels.
Taking a floor area of 5,554 x 3,374mm (14% smaller than the previous-generation machine), the machine has a working volume of 1,000 x 800 x 500mm.
The maximum component size for processing is 1,050mm for both diameter and height; the maximum table load is 1.2 tonnes.
The spindle is rated at 18.5kW 6,000rev/min, and there is capacity for 60 tools up to 500mm long and 265mm in diameter (with the adjacent pockets left empty).
Control is by a Fanuc 31i-B, while spindle growth compensation software and gap-sensing technology are available if required.
