ChamSys, a Southampton-based designer and manufacturer of lighting controllers used in concerts and festivals such as Glastonbury, has been acquired by a US lighting company — Chauvet & Sons — for an undisclosed sum. (

ChamSys will continue to operate as an independent business from its Southampton facility, and its MagicQ series of lighting-control products will continue to be sold by its current network of distributors, except in the USA.
Chauvet said the addition of ChamSys gives it “a strong presence in the controller market” that complements its own lighting fixtures and LED video panels.
Chris Kennedy, managing director of Chamsys, will stay with the company. He said: “Chauvet and ChamSys share similar cultures and a powerful drive to be the best in our markets.
“This partnership is clearly a logical step for both companies. We deeply appreciate that Chauvet is committed to building on our 14-year heritage so that ChamSys becomes even stronger in the future.”
