Istanbul metalworking show successSheet-metal processes, welding and surface-treatment technologies were recently on display in Istanbul at the 22nd WIN Eurasia Metalworking show, which took place at the Tuyap Fair Convention and Congress Centre in February.

Organised by Hannover Fairs Turkey, the show comprised three co-located exhibitions — Metalworking Eurasia, Surface Treatment Eurasia and Welding Eurasia.

In total, 368 international exhibitors from nine countries took part, filling nearly 13,000m2 of floor space; and the show attracted nearly 30,000 visitors.

Many of the leading companies were showcasing their latest machines and technologies, including Nukon, Durma, Dener, Prima Power, Ermaksan, Loyalmak, BLM Group and Baykal.

There was also an area dedicated to robotics, where visitors had the opportunity to see the latest in automation technology from 18 companies.

These included ABB, Mitsubishi, Schunk, Staubli and ABB; this area was organised with the support of ENOSAD — the Association of Industrial Automation Manufacturers.

The show also hosted two days of B2B meetings designed to enable exhibitors to meet international buyer delegations; these events attracted delegates from Algeria, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Egypt, Georgia, Greece, India, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kosovo, Lebanon, Moldova, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Sudan, Tunisia and the UAE.

Furthermore, 40 delegations from 25 regions in Turkey visited the exhibition as a result of a collaboration with the Chambers of Industry and Commerce, trade associations, federations and other institutions; some 150 members of the Turkish Kayseri Chamber of Industry also attended.

Alexander Kühnel, general manager of Hannover Fairs Turkey, said: “WIN Eurasia Metalworking offered major opportunities for domestic and foreign exhibitors to access new markets.

“We are glad to say that our exhibitors were pleased with the high calibre of international visitors and the level of sales inquiries achieved.”

Next year, WIN Eurasia Metalworking and WIN Eurasia Automation will amalgamate and become WIN Eurasia 2018. The show will take place 15-18 March at the Tuyap Fair Convention and Congress Centre in Istanbul.

Aytekin Koç, owner of the Turkish company ATIK Welding Technologies, said: “It is really good news that two WIN shows will be held together. We are looking forward to introducing our products to an even wider audience.”
