A family-run Surrey business that makes speciality gas cylinders and instruments for the medical industry has acquired a stake in an independent Welsh manufacturer.

Spantech Products — founded in 1977 and based in South Godstone — has bought a majority holding in Wrexham-based Micro Materials Ltd (MML), which was founded in 1988 and manufactures a range of nano-mechanical measurement instruments.

Paul Grasske, who will continue as managing director, said the new arrangement will allow MML to “accelerate its present growth path”.

He added that the “greater availability of investment funds” will allow the business to target additional opportunities. Krish Narain, sales director at Spantech Products, will take on the role of business-development manager at MML.
