The UK’s largest manufacturer of caravans and motor-homes — the Cottingham-based Swift Group — has reported record turnover and doubled operating profits.
It made operating profits of £17.5 million in the year to 31 August on sales that rose by 19% to £252 million. Alongside “very positive market conditions”, it also said investments were made to improve the manufacturing facilities during the year.
Shortly after the August year end, the company became debt-free by clearing the finance taken on in 2012 to expand the business.
Managing director James Turner said: “The directors are extremely pleased at the growth in our business. Significant investments in capital equipment, training, education and technology have been made that further enhance our offering.
“We are well positioned to take advantage of future opportunities and challenges in what is currently a buoyant market.”
