Wolverhampton has been declared the best-performing city in western Europe for creating manufacturing jobs via foreign direct investment.
The analysis of jobs by the
FDI magazine found that the city had seen 3,289 jobs created between 2012 and 2016.
The West Midlands dominated the top 10, with Solihull, Coventry and Birmingham ranked fourth, sixth and seventh respectively.
A Wolverhampton City Council spokesman said: “The region’s ability to continue to attract inward investment — in manufacturing and other key sectors — will depend heavily on how it can up-skill today’s workers and create a workforce able to fill the jobs of the future.”
