Manufacturing organisations team upThe EEF (www.eef.org.uk) and the Cambridge-based Institute for Manufacturing (IfM) (www.ifm.eng.cam.ac.uk) are to team up at a seminar on 15 June to offer guidance from some of the UK’s leading experts on how to become a fully digitalised manufacturing enterprise.

This event (at the IfM) will bring researchers, professionals and manufacturers together to learn how to tackle the challenges of digitalisation and how to transform their business operations; it will also explore the opportunities presented by the so-called Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

Delegates will hear from a range of IfM experts on 4IR, including Andy Neely and Duncan Macfarlane, as well as Cisco chairman Phil Smith, who launched Cisco’s British Innovation Gateway programme in 2012 “to spark nation-wide ingenuity, ambition and growth through technology entrepreneurship.

They will also be joined by EEF CEO Terry Scuoler and the organisation’s consultancy director, Martin Strutt, who said: “4IR brings with it a number of benefits to manufacturers, but no two businesses are the same. This seminar will give companies the chance to learn how to adopt the right solution to transform their operations, improve productivity, innovate and compete for greater customer value.”
