The Conservative Party said in its General Election manifesto last week that it plans to double the payments that UK businesses will have to make if they want to employ staff from outside the EU.
The party said that the Immigration Skills Levy will rise from £1,000 to £2,000 per worker per year if they win the election, with the revenues being used to train British workers.
The Immigration Skills Levy, announced in March 2016, came into effect on 6 April this year.
