Basingstoke-based InstaVolt has agreed to buy more than 200 electric-vehicle (EV) charging stations from ChargePoint, which is based in the USA’s Silicon Valley.
InstaVolt installs and maintains EV charging points at places such as forecourts and service stations; it will install the first of these ChargePoint Express Plus rapid-charge systems during the summer.
They will be placed close to popular routes across the country, enabling drivers to charge their vehicles during long journeys.
Tim Payne, chief executive of InstaVolt, said: “These charging units are future-proofed; they can be configured to meet the precise requirements of any site and can be scaled incrementally, as the demand for higher-rate charging
increases.
“This is particularly important, as EV manufacturers begin to bring out new models with increased battery capacity. We are committed to making sure that the units are working 24/7.”
ChargePoint vice-president Simon Lonsdale said: “We are two companies that are committed to EV mobility in Europe, accelerating the driving revolution by making it a part of everyday life.
“InstaVolt is well positioned to help expand EV charging in the UK and is a great partner in this effort.”
