Warsaw Metro says that it is looking for a supplier of 37 six-carriage trains for lines 1 and 2. The closing date for bids is 27 September. The fleet will be divided into 74 driving carriages and 148 intermediate carriages.
The Metro business, which says that it wants the trains to be designed so that fast-wearing components can be exchanged quickly, will evaluate bids using a weighting system; this will be based on 24 points for electricity consumption, 22 for maintenance, four for environment and 50 for price.
Its current fleet were supplied by the former GEC Alsthom for Line 1, while Line 2 has 20 six-car Inspiro trains supplied by Siemens and the Polish Newag group.
