Gripping systems and clamping technology specialist Schunk (
www.gb.schunk.com) (Stand G61) will be showing a variety of new and established product lines — including the latest Tendo Slim 4ax hydraulic expansion tool-holder (pictured) at this year's Subcon show being held 6-8 June at the Birmingham NEC.
Designed primarily for axial operations, this unit can be used for milling close to ‘interfering’ contours, counter-sinking and reaming on five-axis machining centres; it offers good vibration damping and a fast tool-change capability.
Also on display will be the new ELP series of linear modules. These ultra-compact low-maintenance linear modules with a 24V linear drive can be incorporated in pick-and-place and feeding systems instead of pneumatic modules.
The company will also be showing its Rota NCX power chuck, which can replace conventional lathe chucks that do not have a quick-jaw-change system. Within 60sec, a new jaw set can be retrofitted with a repeat accuracy of 0.02mm.
Rota NCX can be used for finishing operations, as well as high-volume metal cutting (for safety, it is equipped with a jaw-locking system and jaw-presence monitoring).
These chucks are available in diameters of 165, 215, 260 and 315mm, with through-hole diameters of 53-106mm and clamping forces from 55 to 155kN. They can be used for ID and OD clamping.
