The MD133 Supreme solid-carbide cutter from Bromsgrove-based Walter GB Ltd (
www.walter-tools.com) has been developed for ‘dynamic’ milling routines such as those involving long cutting lengths with high depths and narrow widths of cut.
Said to offer even wear characteristics over all cutting lengths, the tool ensures reduced costs via increased removal rates. It also provides extended edge life, since heat is designed to be efficiently dissipated via the chips.
Walter’s MD133-type cutters are available in the diameter ranges 6-12mm and 16-20mm and are suitable for cutting lengths of 3xD. Furthermore, the chip-breaker design they incorporate ensures the production of short chips, even at the longest cutting lengths.
Two grades are available: WJ30RD for steel and cast iron; and WJ30RA for stainless steels and other difficult-to-machine materials.
