Nottingham-based Advanex (
www.advanex.co.uk) is celebrating 80 years of precision engineering excellence. Originally started in 1937, the business has had various trading names, including GE Haywood Spring Manufacturer and Entex Springs, and it has grown from a two-man operation to a multi-site manufacturer employing over 180 people in the Nottingham area.
Advanex manufactures millions of springs and other precision metal components for industries including medical and pharmaceutical, aerospace, electronics and automotive.
It is part of Advanex Inc, which has over 22 operations in Japan, Singapore, Thailand, China, America, Mexico, Vietnam, Europe, India and Indonesia.
The early days of the company saw the design and manufacture of valves and springs for large-scale equipment — predominantly for the local textile industry — and at one point it was the largest manufacturer of floppy-disk components.
The company has also developed the unique Kato Coil Thread, an insert that can save up to 40% installation time compared to conventional inserts.
Managing director Ian Beardsmore said: “We are immensely proud to be celebrating 80 years of business. The company has evolved to become a key employer in Nottinghamshire.
“We are excited about the next 80 years and have ambitious growth plans.”
