SLM Solutions Group AG (slm-solutions.com), a supplier of metal-based additive-manufacturing technology, has signed a long-term agreement with the Italian company BeamIT SpA (www.beam-it.eu) — a sub-contract manufacturer that serves the automotive, biomedical and aerospace sectors and already uses machines from SLM Solutions.

The co-operation agreement includes a letter of intent for the purchase of a further 15 SLM Solutions’ multi-laser machines by 31 December 2019; these comprise 10 SLM 280 2.0 models, and five SLM 500 machines equipped with a quad-laser system.

SLM Solutions and BeamIT will seek to jointly develop and test various parameters for setting the machines when using different metal powders.

Uwe Bögershausen, CFO of SLM Solutions, said: “We have been working very closely with BeamIT for some years now. Italy is a market with huge potential, and we are looking forward to stepping up this co-operation.”
