Tewkesbury-based Quickgrind Ltd (
www.quickgrind.com) has launched its Mirage series of solid-carbide end mills, which the company says outperforms competitor products on stainless steel, super-alloys, cast iron and a selection of non-ferrous high-temperature alloys.
The Quickgrind Mirage series also offers a geometry that allows users to undertake roughing, finishing, slotting and profiling, as well as trochoidal milling and high-speed machining processes.
According to Quickgrind, the secret behind Mirage is a tool composition that consists of a force-resistant sub-micro-grain carbide featuring the company’s proprietary X-Red coating technology.
While the carbide composition and coating form the foundation for extended tool life and cutting performance, the variable flute design and centre-cutting geometry deliver the material removal characteristics and flexibility to undertake a multitude of processes.
The four-flute end mills are available in diameters of 3, 4, 5 and 6mm, each with a 6mm-diameter H6 ground shank. These smaller-diameter tools have an overall length of 58mm and a flute length of 10 to 13mm, with the option of a square end or corner radius of 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1 or 1.5mm, depending on the chosen tool.
The 8, 10, 12, 16 and 20mm-diameter variants are available with flute lengths from 18 to 38mm, and an overall length from 64 to 104mm, depending on the diameter selected.
