National Transport Design Centre launchedThose attending the recent launch event for Coventry University’s National Transport Design Centre (NTDC) (www.coventry.ac.uk/business/ntdc) were told that this ‘world-class facility’ will boost West Midlands manufacturing, bringing together students,
designers and manufacturers with the aim of developing all aspects of transport design for the future.

Jonathan Browning, chair of the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “We’re delighted to have been able to secure £7 million of funding through the Local Growth Fund to make this exciting vision a reality.

“Not only will the NTDC play a major role in unlocking further growth potential locally, regionally and nationally, it will also be crucial in developing future talent and excellence within the automotive, manufacturing and engineering industries.”

David Wright, Coventry University’s director of strategic initiatives, added: “The NTDC will have a lasting positive impact on the university, but also on Coventry, Warwickshire and the wider West Midlands region.

“There is a wealth of design, engineering and manufacturing expertise surrounding us in the Midlands; the NTDC brings those elements together — along with an academic research component — to maintain Coventry’s leading position when it comes to transport design.”
