Siemens (
www.siemens.com) is to rebrand its mechanical-drives unit, which serves industries such as wind power, under the name Flender.
The unit has been operating as a stand-alone business under the Siemens umbrella since earlier this year.
Siemens said the new set-up will be completed world-wide by mid-2018, adding that the company’s wind-turbine gears business will be part of Flender and will continue to operate under the Winergy brand.
Flender was founded in 1899 and originally made wooden pulleys. Siemens took over the company in 2005 and integrated it into the mechanical-drives business unit.
