Apprentices from Siemens Power Generation facility in Newcastle recently underwent a day’s training at Chesterfield-based tooling company Dormer Pramet (
www.dormerpramet.com), where they took part in product awareness training (focusing on drilling, threading and milling applications).
A CNC demonstration and presentation highlighted how slight variations can make a big difference to machining capabilities; by the end of the training day, the apprentices were able to specify tools for specific materials and calculate suitable speeds and feeds.
Brian Todd, lead vocational educator, at Siemens (
www.siemens.com), said: “Dormer Pramet has contributed to the development of our apprentices for the past nine years. The interesting and enjoyable training day will leave a lasting impression.”
