Apprentices visit Dormer PrametApprentices from Siemens Power Generation facility in Newcastle recently underwent a day’s training at Chesterfield-based tooling company Dormer Pramet (www.dormerpramet.com), where they took part in product awareness training (focusing on drilling, threading and milling applications).

A CNC demonstration and presentation highlighted how slight variations can make a big difference to machining capabilities; by the end of the training day, the apprentices were able to specify tools for specific materials and calculate suitable speeds and feeds.

Brian Todd, lead vocational educator, at Siemens (www.siemens.com), said: “Dormer Pramet has contributed to the development of our apprentices for the past nine years. The interesting and enjoyable training day will leave a lasting impression.”
